Let me update a little!

It's quite late, Sunday P.M.  (Monday a.m. by now) and I'm not really ready to end the day.  I haven't decided what to write but thought I'd jot down a few things.  This morning, Sunday, I got up way too early (the first time).   Todd went to work, so, I went back to bed and then overslept and missed Church...which disappointed me.  I really like the Church I'm going to and look forward to the Reverand's sermons.   Oh well....I quess I needed the sleep.
Fixed breakfast/lunch and sat in a recliner watching "Dances with Wolves" for  several hours!!!!   Great movie, just lasts toooooo long.  As not to have the day be a complete loss, I did some house work and finished all the laundry!  I painted Kilz on a dresser that I'll put a coat of satin latex white on tomorrow, (which is already 'today').  Then I did 'Create' a little in my sewing room.  Made valances for  the blue, beachy bedroom, but haven't taken a picture of them yet.   The other day I made a diaper bag for a customer that had a baby girl last week.   That's always fun!  I love making 'bags'!!!  So I had fun making this one for baby Kassidy!

sew many ways

Here are the Hydrangeas from my yard that lived a really long time!
Notice the HUGE mirror above!  Todd is doing a complete remodel for someone and she hated this mirror.....Her loss.trash...my gain.treasure...When I pulled into the garage and saw it, I immediately knew where, (in my newly remodelled kitchen)Todd could hang it for me.!!!!.
These pics don't really do it justice!

Anyway....I'm getting sleepy now...so "goodnight" or should I be saying "goodmorning"?  Hope I don't sleep in too late and miss my Monday off!  Bye for now!  Judy

Onto Kitchen Floor.....

Three layers of linoleum and particle board to be removed!!!!!!  Todd did the tearing up....I did the hauling it into the back of his truck....Wish I'd had a pedometer on to know how many miles I walked, that day, from the kitchen to the truck and back....repeatedly....but...that was NOTHING compared to the hard work Todd performed that Sunday afternoon!  I tried ONCE to pull up a section and it didn't budge!

Mission accomplished!!!
Next came the new plywood and Durock ...

He worked on that for two more days.
Now we're waiting on the 20x20 tiles we picked out to be delivered~

We did go away for the weekend, to our Nephew, Matthew and Amy's pre-wedding cookout, in Goldsboro, NC, which is where Todd's brother, Mike lives.  That was relaxing...(except for the 7 hour drive there and back).   We stayed in a nice hotel !  The weather cooperated for a great cookout~ with Todd's family and friends!

Todd and his niece, Emily
Me and Emily

Todd and his Nephew, Christopher.

Update on Kitchen Island remodel

Well... 3/4 ths of the way there!  Here are a few pics of our Kitchen Island remodel.

BEFORE pictures

Both sides had drawers and cabinets before and I wanted a breakfast bar  w/stools!
DURING....

Todd used scraps of beadboard leftover from a job he recently finished.  The corbels were given to him about 4 years ago.  And he purchased the trim at Lowe's.   So....the renovation of the island was not costly at all!!
still DURING....
I helped!

AND TA DAH!!!!!  (actually I did add a 3rd coat of paint after seeing these photos!)

More upcoming...in the near future!  The front side will take some extra effort as the drawers need to be rebuilt and beadboard added!  And of course I WILL add different shelf liner....{what were the previous owners thinking?}

The floor is in limbo!!!  And I bought some fabric  and foam to pad and cover the bar stools with!!!
As you see now the island REALLY makes the whole kitchen need a complete cabinet overhaul!!!  But...we've not even been here quite 2 years yet and Todd was out of town working for 6 months....so...considering that...I think we've made our house our HOME!!!!  Just wanted to share with my decorating blog buddies!!!   (Oh, and Please ignore the mess on the kitchen table in the background....the island was full of stuff that has been there since we moved in....so most of it will make the yard sale pile!)
