DIY Curtains for our Living Room

One more step to being finished in the Living Room!  My Waverly fabric FINALLY arrived!  So I laid it out, measured, lined up the pattern, sewed and hung!  All in about 3 hours!!!!

I purchased 10 yards of 55" wide Waverly Mocha Chippendale Fretwork Fabric.  Using 9 yards, I cut 3 equal pieces measuring 55" x 3 yards. Since I only wanted two 96" panels, (one on either end of the set of windows,) I took one of the 3 pcs and cut it in half to add to the 2 full pieces.
With the remaining yard I will make some pillows for either the sofa or two of the chairs.  (I'll post about those later.)

I cut the panel with my pinking shears so it wouldn't unravel!

Family Room Finished!

Family Room Makeover Complete!!

We've finished the Living Room Makeover and I'm ready to share some of the pictures!
To see the BEFORE and the DURING go here!

AFTER
My husband and I worked hard and long with lots of plans for a comfy, more formal living room and it's just the way we hoped it would be!  All I'm waiting on now is the fabric we ordered so I can make the drapes!  We've even mounted the hardware over the windows!  There's always something we're waiting on!

This view is a little dark because of the bright sunlight coming in the window! I'll probably take a better pic when the sun gets to the back of the house in the afternoon. Or....when the drapes are up.
This one's better! But it's before we found our lamp at Kirkland's.  The black table between our reading chairs was made by my husband, Todd.  He found an old lamp at an antique mall and turned it into a table.  Perfect spot for having our morning coffee too!

These dark chairs on the end were just temporary.  We got them at Cash Liquidators in Forsyth, GA, years ago.  That's where you can buy Hotel furniture that's been replaced when they remodel hotels.  I thought about reupholstering them... till we found THE perfect pair!
Went shopping in Atlanta and found them at INTAGLIA a fabulous home furniture and collection store.  It's in Ansley Mall if anyone is looking for something classic and contemporary!  The garden stools are from PIER 1
Found these pictures at Kirkland's.  They fit perfectly on this narrow wall beside our computer niche!
Still need to recover this old desk chair!  Almost forgot about that!  And add a few more things to the shelves above it!

My photography skills are somewhat off here!  Found this table at Hilton Head in a quaint furniture/decor store.  The lamps are from Tuesday Morning, here in Macon.  The mirror is from Lowe's.

Also....still playing around with the mixing and matching of different pillows!
So....until next time, Bye!  :-)

OUR REMODEL UPDATE!!!! (The 'DURING' phase!) ...finally!

SNEEK PEAK!!!!
OK....So....I'm finally getting back to Blogging!!! And no, it hasn't been because the family room took forever to finish....it's because I guess I'm just a bit lax with my blogging skills so I just don't DO IT!! I'm a Blog Procrastinator" (Good thing I don't do it for a living!) I can't even compare to others, I know!
Well..I shared the demolition my husband did in the Family Room..months ago!!
Since then we've shopped, painted, shopped and painted and more of the same!  Finally after a few months....we're finished!!  But..first I want to share some of the "During" photos!
We replaced the paneled walls with sheetrock, since we wanted a more formal look!

Covered the painted brick fireplace too!

and wired it for 'future' TV

On weekends and many evenings, after his daytime job, Todd diligently toiled and labored (with love!) Even on rainy days!!!
Todd turned the 3 beamed ceiling into a coffered ceiling! Looks more formal!  Then he replaced all the tan electrical outlets and light switches with white ones.  He replaced a single lighting/fan with two hanging lights!

 Found them at Lowe's

Then found this large candle holder that matches the lights (at Z Gallerie)!!!

Next we went shopping and purchased our new rug and sofa at Ashley Furniture!
See allllll the wonderful colors in the rug that we had to choose from, to decorate with?

We picked a neutral sofa so I can add colorful decorative pillows!
Then the painting began....
This is the darkest green in the whole paint store!! Hated it!!! It was actually the 2nd color Todd had painted the room. The first was too pale of a beige!! Both of which a 'decorator' recommended after seeing our new rug! So...then we decided on the paint color ourselves!

Much, much better paint choice!!  We like light and bright!  Happy now!  (Happy wife, happy life!)  Of course he agreed with me!  Next...Todd covered the rest of the fireplace with glass tiles and installed a piece of granite on the hearth!  Now, not any of the old 'brick fireplace' to be seen!!!

We designed a new mantle and had the cabinet people make it along with the custom built-ins.  Got the idea for this mantle from Candice Olson, similar to one she showed on an episode of her show on HGTV, "Candice Tells All".

Next..laid the rug out, turned on the lights and added the sofa, then began to fill the shelves!
