Update on Kitchen Island remodel

Well... 3/4 ths of the way there!  Here are a few pics of our Kitchen Island remodel.

BEFORE pictures

Both sides had drawers and cabinets before and I wanted a breakfast bar  w/stools!
DURING....

Todd used scraps of beadboard leftover from a job he recently finished.  The corbels were given to him about 4 years ago.  And he purchased the trim at Lowe's.   So....the renovation of the island was not costly at all!!
still DURING....
I helped!

AND TA DAH!!!!!  (actually I did add a 3rd coat of paint after seeing these photos!)

More upcoming...in the near future!  The front side will take some extra effort as the drawers need to be rebuilt and beadboard added!  And of course I WILL add different shelf liner....{what were the previous owners thinking?}

The floor is in limbo!!!  And I bought some fabric  and foam to pad and cover the bar stools with!!!
As you see now the island REALLY makes the whole kitchen need a complete cabinet overhaul!!!  But...we've not even been here quite 2 years yet and Todd was out of town working for 6 months....so...considering that...I think we've made our house our HOME!!!!  Just wanted to share with my decorating blog buddies!!!   (Oh, and Please ignore the mess on the kitchen table in the background....the island was full of stuff that has been there since we moved in....so most of it will make the yard sale pile!)

It is beautiful, and just look how Todd is smiling. He knows what it feels like to have completed a job well done.

Judy, I saw your last comment -- That is SO funny. My husband tries to stay as far away from it all as possible, although I STILL include him when the story is about him.
